Parish Mission Statement

St. Procopius/Providence of God is a Roman Catholic parish of the Archdiocese of Chicago in the Pilsen neighborhood of diverse individuals and families, whose  predominant demographics are English and Spanish speaking. We desire to grow in faith and in union with Jesus Christ and with one another.

Through worship, prayer, outreach to the poor, education and action, we seek to respond to the challenges of the Gospel in our society. We strive to become a place of welcome and reconciliation as people of faith impelled by love and service to those in need, and as a community guided by preferential care for the poor. With the aid of the Holy
Spirit, we strive to be true companions of Jesus Christ.

 

Declaración de la Misión Parroquial

San Procopio/Providencia de Dios es una parroquia católica romana de la Arquidiócesis de Chicago en el vecindario de Pilsen de diversas personas y familias, cuya demografía
predominante es de habla inglesa y española. Deseamos crecer en la fe y en la unión con Jesucristo y los unos con los otros.

A través de la adoración, la oración, el alcance a los pobres, la educación y la acción, buscamos responder a los desafíos del Evangelio en nuestra sociedad. Nos esforzamos por convertirnos en un lugar de acogida y reconciliación como personas de fe impulsadas por el amor y el servicio a los necesitados, y como comunidad guiada por la atención preferencial a los pobres. Con la ayuda del Espíritu Santo, nos esforzamos por ser verdaderos compañeros de Jesucristo.

Inspired by the rich tradition of the Church and called to be Companions of Jesus, we strive with the help of the Holy Spirit to:

  • Ground our lives in the sacraments and in the gospel.

  • Place the worship of God in the Eucharist at the center of our parish life.

  • Invite all peoples from diverse walks of life to make community with us.

  • Offer comfort to the alienated and marginalized in their faith journey.

  • Provide opportunities to enrich the prayer and spiritual lives of our parishioners.

  • Each parishioner’s lifelong search to experience and understand Christ and His Church.

  • Become active disciples in God’s work in this world through our commitment to serve one another within and outside of the parish.
