What is Confirmation?
- One of the 7 Sacraments.
- One of the three sacraments of initiation.
- A sacrament that calls down a fullness of the 7 Gifts of the Holy Spirit.
- A sacrament of strengthening.
- A sacrament that helps us to do God’s will in our lives.
- A sacrament that confirms God’s choice of us as disciples.
- A sacrament in which our faith can be strengthened if we are open to the gift of the Holy Spirit.
- It gives an indelible spiritual mark on our soul that can never be erased.
- It strengthens the Christian to profess their faith openly.
Confirmation is NOT
It is also important to know that Confirmation is NOT
- The end of our learning about God, our faith and our church.
- The end of our service to God, Church and others.
- The last time we are expected to participate in Church ritual and liturgy.
- Something we do because we are “graduating” from school.
- Something we do to please others.
Confirmation
Confirmation candidates are accepted into the program when they are in 8th grade through 12th grade.
Students must attend class and mass each Sunday in order to participate in the Confirmation program.
You are allowed two absences during the program. Arriving late or leaving class early, or not participating in Sunday mass are not considered full classes and will be counted as an absence.
Please see the RICA section of the website for information on adults who want to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.
